Col. Tim Marsano, spokesman for the Idaho National Guard has confirmed that an Apache helicopter crashed South of Gown Field last night just after 7 o’clock. Both Idaho Army National Guard pilots aboard were pronounced dead at the scene by the Ada County coroner. We expect to know the names of the pilots late this afternoon.
The helicopter was on a training mission at the time, but the reasons for the crash are not known yet.
The helicopter, one of 16 Apaches based at Gowen Field, went down at South Pleasant Valley and West Hollilynn Drive.
