Construction of the Gardner Company’s City Center Plaza has prompted the Capital City Development Corporation’s board to change the traffic direction on 8th Street from southbound to northbound. Capital City Development Corporation, owns the stretch of 8th Street between Main and Bannock streets. Ada County Highway District controls the rest.
Gardner, which finished the 8th & Main building early this year, will start work in July on City Center Plaza on the southwest corner of Capitol Boulevard and Main Street. That project will lead to lane closures on Main Street just east of 8th Street.
Making car traffic on 8th Street travel north instead of south will relieve some of the pressure on Main Street.
