BOISE -- Deputies with the Ada County Sheriff's Office have begun using on-body cameras to capture footage of their contact with the public.
5 deputies have been issued the Taser Axon cameras that came into the department Friday. The sheriff's office will increase the numbers of deputies with the cameras in groups of five over the next year.
Officials want a total of 70 deputies outfitted with the cameras. The sheriff's office is the first agency in Ada County to adopt the new equipment.
Sheriff Gary Raney said in a statement the body cameras could provide more context and information than the methods they are currently using.
