Will the Big 12 finally expand to twelve teams?  If so, will Boise State get the invite?

Not according to the latest news from several sources.  The Cincinnati Enquirer has just concluded an extensive investigation into UC’s efforts to gain membership to the Big 12.   The article details the correspondence between the presidents of Cincinnati and Oklahoma.  The UC leadership has also made trips to Texas, Kansas, and other areas of the Big 12.

The other school named as a possible addition to the Big 12 is BYU.  The Cougars are the other program that seems like the logical fit according to 24/7 Sports.  The Bearcats expand the conference into Ohio and give West Virginia a travel partner.

A source close to BYU says they’ve tired of the independent scene and would like to be once again a member of a conference.  The Big 12 recently was allowed to host a championship game with only ten members, so there’s no hurry to expand.  However, if the Big 12 does take UC and BYU, what happens to BSU?

Most experts agree that BSU should stay in the Mountain West Conference and continue its dominance in football.  Boise State’s conference affiliation hasn’t limited it’s on and off field success.
