33 year old Terry Sonner collapsed after his fire crew finished training at the Hammett Guard Station Wednesday.
Crew members called for medical assistance and performed CPR, but were unable to revive him.
Sonner was a veteran wildland firefighter who started work for the BLM in 2001 and was the fire operations supervisor of the Hammett Guard Station engine crew for the Boise District BLM.
The cause of Sonner's death is unknown and the BLM has appointed a team to assess the circumstances surrounding his death. Sonner is survived by his wife and children.
