AP) - The Army says Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl's family is not currently in Texas, where the solider is being treated following his release from Taliban captivity.

Col. Bradley Poppen, an Army psychologist, said during a news conference Friday that a soldier typically determines when to reunite with his or her family. Poppen declined to release further details, citing the family's request for privacy.

Bergdahl was captured in Afghanistan in 2009 and released last month in a controversial prisoner swap with the Taliban.

The Idaho native had been recovering at an Army facility in Germany before returning to the U.S. earlier Friday, when he arrived at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. He will continue his next phase of reintegration at the Texas Army post.
