Caldwell police say a 39-year-old man told police he was shot early Thursday morning after pulling over to help a stranded driver in a silver truck.
The victim, whose name has not been released, had stopped at Farmway and Mink Roads north of Caldwell when the shooting happened just after 2 a.m.
Police are still searching for a suspect, but don't have a description of the shooter. Anyone with information about the shooting or anyone who saw a silver truck in the area that looked out of place is encouraged to contact the sheriff's office at 454-7480.
The man who was shot was taken to the hospital, and is listed in stable condition.
