The Jefferson Memorial is dedicated to one of our most admired founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson.  You'll see the direct line of site from the memorial to the White House which is by design, so Jefferson is always looking at the 'peoples house.'  The memorial is surrounded by the world famous Washington Cherry Blossoms which were in full bloom last week.

The memorial was dedicated in 1943 by President Franklin Roosevelt in celebrating Jefferson's 200th birthday.  The Jefferson memorial is a little off the path of the other monuments.  It's surrounded by the Tidal Basin and Cherry Blossoms.  One doesn't have to be a fan of Jefferson to admire his memorial.
