On Tuesday Wilder voters elected their first female mayor, Alicia Almazan a new face of the city of Wilder.
Almazan ran against current city councilman Robert Rivera and won with 60 percent of the vote. Almazan will replace long-term Mayor John Bechtel, who decided to not run again.

Almazan grew up in Wilder and according to the Idaho Press Tribune has big plans for her hometown. Her top four goals include:

• Building more houses within the city
• Attracting new businesses to stimulate Wilder's economy
• Creating new events for families in the city and for visitors
• Finding a way to attract tourism to large hop farms near the city

Almazan began her job as the city clerk over two years ago. Her job made her interested in a position in the city government.
