Hot weather has prompted Ada County officials to officially open the Boise River to rafters and floaters this Friday.
The Boise River Raft & Tube rental service at Barber Park will open to the public at noon Friday. People can float the Boise River on their own prior to the raft and tube rental service opening. But officals want to make sure the public is prepared for a float down the river. The water is cold and swift, and can be dangerous if people are not prepared and do not use caution.
All floaters should wear a personal flotation device and have other safety items such as proper clothing, sunscreen, foot protection. Alcohol and glass containers are prohibited on the river.
The designated take-out location is Ann Morrison Park. Do not float past that point.
The June 12th opening matches their earliest opening date.
