Blaine County sheriff's deputies and Fish and Game officers were kept busy for nearly 3 hours after a Hailey resident thought their home was being broken into in the middle of the night. When the family made their way to the basement they found a cow elk had come in through a basement window well.

Officers drove the elk up the basement stairs and out of the home. Alex Head, Fish and Game senior conservation officer said, “It took us about 2.5 hours, but we got her out uninjured. The basement will need a good, deep cleaning”.
