Idaho Stampede Moves To Utah
The Idaho Stampede's season ended Saturday night and so did their time in the Gem State according to multiple print and broadcast sources. The team will move to Utah so they can be closer to their parent club the Utah Jazz. The NBA D-League Club was purchased by the Jazz last year from a group of local Treasure Valley business leaders. The move comes despite multiple reassurances from the Stampede and Jazz officials that the team would stay in the Treasure Valley. The Salt Lake Tribune reports the team will be renamed the Salt Lake City Stars and play at Salt Lake City Community College. KSL.com states that moving the team close to the Jazz is following an NBA trend of a 'two way NBA roster' which allows teams to call up players quicker.
The Stampede began play in the Treasure Valley in 1997. No word on what will happen to the local employees who were working for the Stampede at this time.
