Many Treasure Valley Residents were awakened last night as The National Weather Service says 673 lightning strikes hit Ada, Boise and Elmore counties. Storms rolled through the area Late Wednesday and into the early morning hours Thursday. Just 0.06 inches of rain was recorded at the Boise Airport, but rain totals throughout the region ranged from a quarter-inch to three-quarters of an inch. A mudslide and rock fall blocked Idaho 21 yesterday evening and power was knocked out in several areas of the Treasure Valley. Crews spent all night restoring power and clearing the highway. The areas hit hardest by the storms passing through the region were Owyhee County, Boise National Forest, the Sawtooths, and the Twin Falls area.
