24 Year old Scotty Dale Turnbull was charged this week with second-degree murder in the beating death of 37 year old Russell Bitton near Rhodes Park in October.
Bitton's body was found Oct. 28 near the 16th Street overpass. Officials say it appears he died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Turnbull, who was described as homeless has been in police custody since the day Bitton's body was found and has been held on felony battery and one count of misdemeanor battery for beating another man and woman during a fight the night before Bitton's body was found.
Turnbull has an extensive criminal record in Ada, Canyon and Gem counties  and is being held on $1,000,000 bond. He has convictions for grand theft, petty theft, battery, drug possession, along with fish and game and concealed weapons violations.
