Yes, I know the photo above is a Navy F35A, I couldn't find a picture of the Air Force version of the much maligned fighter.  The world, and our military, have been waiting for the plane to take its place in the skies protecting America.  The wait could be over after what happened recently at Mountain Home Air Force Base.  According to the Air Force Times, the planes were so fast and stealthy at during their recent training at Mountain Home, that missiles could not find them or track them.  The jets had to flip on their FAA transponders so the missile crew could find them.

The deployment of the F35s has been a competitive issue among states and bases.  Mountain Home AFB and Gowen Field are in the running to host the new fighter.
