The former Texas Governor explains why you should be armed in movie theaters.  Rick Perry told CNN's Jake Tapper that gun free zones are a bad idea, on CNN's State of The Union.  Perry, a second amendment champion, says that well trained citizens can handle the type of shootings that have happened across the country.  Perry expanded on this idea to Jake Tapper.

"I will suggest to you that these concepts of gun-free zones are a bad idea," Perry said. "I think that you allow the citizens of this country, who have appropriately trained, appropriately backgrounded, know how to handle and use firearms, to carry them. I believe that, with all my heart, that if you have the citizens who are well trained, and particularly in these places that are considered to be gun-free zones, that we can stop that type of activity, or stop it before there's as many people that are impacted as what we saw in Lafayette.".

Perry is correct that we have thousands of laws on the books regulating firearms.  The challenge is to allow everyone to protect themselves while prohibiting criminals and the mentally ill from obtaining firearms.  New laws will not protect us and the police can only react to shootings.  Citizens must become properly trained to protect themselves.  Governments must realize its limitations and eliminate restrictions on the second amendment.  Look for Rick Perry to continue to say what most Americans believe.
