A 46-year-old man was killed Wednesday morning when his scooter was struck by a truck at Columbia and Meridian roads in a Meridian.Police say the traffic lights at the intersection were not working when the crash happened at 11 a.m. The scooter was making a left turn from northbound Meridian Road onto Columbia Road when it was hit by a southbound truck.
It was not immediately clear why the lights were not functioning.
The scooter rider was not wearing a helmet and suffered a serious head injury. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, but did not survive. His name has not been released.
