After building a notable practice in Bakersfield, California called Moneywise, I decided life had much more to offer than just work and money. So, I simplified my life and started to focus on efficient work, personal time management, physical fitness, and abundant family experiences. I sold my California financial advisory and brokerage practice and moved to Idaho in 2009. I am proud to say I have been a professional Financial Advisor since 2000 and created Tree City Advisors LLC in 2015. Read more about Tree City Advisors at www.treecityadvisors.com.
Since 2001, I’ve hosted a daily, live financial radio broadcast. Whether it is from Wall Street or Washington, I pride myself in being anti-spin. I believe the financial community has purposely made investment decisions confusing. My objective is to remove the clutter and help you focus on what matters most: YOUR best interest. Financial decisions are not complicated, they do however involve emotion. I believe most emotions can be countered with logic though education and experience.
I have been married to my wife Vicki since 1996 and we have one son, Cooper. I get a rush out of being part of Cooper’s ski racing program and helping him hone his skills so he may reach his goals of being a high level ski racer. When Cooper and I are not skiing the slopes at Bogus Basin, you can find us riding the mountain bike trails around southern Idaho. When Cooper is not available, you can find me scouting new trails with my friends. Vicki is my client service expert at Tree City Advisors LLC and owns a cocktail and special occasion dress rental company called RAG Boutique. We have enjoyed working closely together on our new lives and ventures in Idaho.
I had a nationally syndicated investing show (more focus on stock trading) called “InvestXpress with Brian and Garro”. The show ran in about 50 major markets from 2005-2007. We had a large following, but found it took too much from our daily business and clients.
I owned a small ski area in California for seven years called Alta Sierra as a “fun” project with four partners. I love the sport so much I decided to take a whack at creating an awesome family resort where the whole resort was kid-friendly and focused on teaching families more about winter sports and activities. We completely renovated the resort and added a lift and snow making system. I gifted my shares to a close friend in 2009.
My “work” lives on. Even though I am no longer a part it, Moneywise still thrives in Bakersfield. It made the Inc. Magazine’s top 5000 growing US companies list in 2012 and was rated the #1 fastest growing financial adviosory firm in California the same year. Me and a partner created the entire business, including the radio show, which is still a popular program on KERN radio in Bakersfield, CA.
I have an investment suggestion newsletter called Plug-In Portfolios. Think of it as being able to look over my shoulder to see what I am doing for my advisory clients. You can learn more at http://www.pluginportfolios.com. This is a product I am very proud of and see as an important next-step for many investors. I plan market this product nationally.
