Idaho Fish and Game officials had to euthanize a 300-pound male black bear west of Ketchum.

The Idaho Mountain Express reports in a story on Wednesday that a Fish and Game officer killed the bear in the backyard of a home.

Conservation Officer Lee Garwood says the bear had an infected wound on its head and had been in a fight with another male bear.

He says the bear was at least 10 years old and is likely the same bear that has been getting into garbage cans for years in that neighborhood.
