The families discussed in this article were found safe and sound thanks to rescuers and local police. Here's the original story:

Police, family and friends are searching four southwest Idaho counties for two families that are reported missing. Lynn Hightower with the Boise Police department says the two dads and their three children went for a drive and possible hike Saturday afternoon and never returned.

Police identified the missing family members as 38 year old John Julian, his two children, 8 year old Samantha and 7 year old Isaac. Missing with them is 34 year old William Murkle and his 10 year-old daughter, Megan. Both families are from Boise. The two men did not say exactly where they were headed, but mentioned they might go to either to Lucky Peak or CJ Strike reservoirs near Mountain Home.
Deputies in Ada, Elmore, Owyhee, and Boise counties are assisting in the search, and report that the group did not take provisions for an overnight stay. The group was driving a silver 2003 Ford Explorer with Utah plates. If you have seen the families or their SUV please call your local police.
