Two Long Time Businesses Close Their Doors

Two long time Treasure Valley businesses will be closing their doors. After more than 60 years in Caldwell, Penny Wise Drug is closing its doors. The pharmacy was open for the last day Tuesday. Pharmacy records have been transferred to Walgreens. The store’s remaining merchandise will be sold at a discount starting Nov. 21, and the store will close today and Thursday to prepare for the sale.
Molenaar Jewelers has been in Idaho for 73 years, with 10 locations over the years, as well as stores in Meridian and Ontario.Soon the final Molenaar store at 1503 Broadway Ave. will sells its remaining discounted inventory and close. Owner Susie Molenaar Butterfield - daughter of founder Jake Molenaar - is retiring at age 57. With no one else bearing the Molenaar name interested in taking over the business, she said she'd rather close than sell the business and risk quality or service declining under the Molenaar name.
