Look, everyone makes mistakes on the job. How often have you spotted a typo in an email, a PowerPoint presentation going wrong, or someone pressing the "wrong button?"

Sometimes, food manufacturers make similar mistakes, but their mistakes can result in a recall.

A Bizarre Reason For A Recall

When many of us think of food recalls, our brain most likely goes to a contamination of some sort. We've seen all kinds of contaminants ranging from small pieces of metal to dangerous bacteria like listeria.

These recalls are important to know about because in many cases, the recalled item could cause harm, injury, or in some rare cases, death.

The latest major recall we caught wind of involves Kirkland Signature Salted Sweet Cream Butter and Kirkland Signature Unsalted Sweet Cream Butter.

Check Your Fridges...

You would think it's due to contamination as we discussed before, right?

Wrong.

According to data from the Food & Drug Administration, the reason for the recall is simple - someone didn't label the packaging properly.

It might sound like a minuscule problem until you realize that the packaging is missing some very important information; information that could be the difference between someone getting really sick or not. According to the FDA:

Butter lists cream, but may be missing the Contains Milk statement.

It might sound like a silly thing to recall a product for but imagine the lawsuit Kirkland could face if they didn't pull nearly 80,000 pounds of butter.

When you're putting out that much butter, you really don't have that much of a choice... especially when it could wind up anywhere in the country.
