Is Dumpster Diving Illegal In Idaho?
As the old saying goes: "One man's trash is another man's treasure."
When you think about how many things are going into a dumpster, it actually makes sense. For some people, it's about finding broken items to restore for resale.
For others, it's finding items people tossed not realizing how much these things were worth.
What's The Most Valuable Thing You've Found In A Dumpster?
Think about how many and what types of things people throw away in a dumpster dive.
If you ever want to kill some time and get inspired to find rugs, barely used kids toys, and even an entire set of vintage records ready to be sold... trust us, search and watch dumpster dive finds on YouTube.
And look - we get it, not everything we see on social media is real. As a matter of fact, some of the videos of crazy dumpster finds probably are fake.
On the other side of the coin, many valuables are carelessly thrown away in a dumpster. You never know what you'll find...
But is it legal to go dumpster diving in Idaho?
No... and yes.
We searched and couldn't find laws that specifically outlaw dumpster diving. You can technically walk up to a dumpster and search its contents to see if you can find your own set of vintage records.
Now, with that said, some of these dumpsters might be on private property and you could get busted for trespassing which is a misdemeanor according to Idaho law.
So, if you plan on going to search a dumpster, it's probably a safe and respectful idea to ask the business for permission to search their dumpster before hopping in.
Happy hunting!
