It won't be long before we see snow in Idaho. It's an exciting time and it's quite a sight to see the white stuff blanket the Treasure Valley.

As with anything though, you'll want to be careful and not too reckless.

Should we even be worried about snow yet?

We should be seeing our first day of snow sooner rather than later. Shoot, one weather source even claims that the Boise area should be seeing "heavy snow" as early as this Sunday.

We know that's not likely so we checked another source in Accuweather. That particular data shows (at the time of writing this) that November 12th will be our first day in the season with snow.

If you have children who are big enough to appreciate things like snow, there's no doubt they'll be excited when they start to see our first snowfall.

Watch out for the kids!

Some of us have kids who love to be outside and in the excitement of snowfall, there's a chance that these same excited kiddos will be the first to run outside and stick their tongues out under the white sky.

While it's tempting for kids to do, it's not the wisest thing.

"Any snow has the risk of containing pollution, dirt and microbes," Jennifer Johnson, May Clinic Health System family doctor told Accuweather.

If you're not in the big city, you might think the pollution wouldn't be as rampant. But if your kids are rolling around or scraping up snow in the countryside, you still have to be weary of what you're consuming.

"Rural locations have more potential for agricultural chemicals in the ground that may leech into snow over time."

So... what hazards does snow present?
