It's getting more and more expensive to live life in Boise. Home prices have surged, and gas prices are among the highest in the country. Now, it's costing us even more to eat.

Even trying to cut your food costs by eating at home is more expensive than it used to be. Yahoo! Finance says eating at home will cost you 12% more than last year. Eating out will cost you over 8% more than last year.

Several fast-food restaurants are responsible for the increase we're seeing. Taco Bell has raised prices by 14%. Chic-Fil-A has raised its prices by over 15%. The two most prominent names in fast food haven't done the same. Burger King has raised prices by only 2% since last year, while McDonald's is 5% cheaper than last year. However, one restaurant with 14 Treasure Valley locations has raised prices far more than any other.

With the average rent in Boise being just under $2,000 per month and the average home price being $519,371, it is no wonder Treasure Valley residents are feeling their wallets tightened. Housing is 7% higher than the national average. Along with higher prices on food, healthcare, and transportation, living in Boise will cost you 4% more than the national average.

At the same time, the median household income in Boise is $68,373. So, how are families getting by in this economy? I don't know, but please tell me if you figure it out.

Wendy's has increased their prices more than any other restaurant, where the average menu item is $6.63. Wendy's prices have increased by 35% over last year. Wendy's has 32 locations in Idaho, including 14 in the Boise area.
