There's the age-old saying that nothing beats home cooking--and we're here for that--to an extent. Sometimes, no matter how much you love to cook or how often you do it, you just can't beat a meal at a favorite local restaurant.

It's really these two worlds "colliding" for Boise treasure Dan Ansotegui, who says that it's his love for cooking--inspired by that home cooking of his grandmother, that make his restaurant (and many others, over the years) so special.

Let's take a look at this Boise gem that received major national attention over the weekend

This Boise Restaurant & Catering Company Is Among Nation's Best

CBS Saturday Morning recently featured one of Boise's greatest gems, in their restaurant highlight "The Dish"-- and it couldn't have featured a better family or business!

Have you ever had the chance to eat at Ansots?

Spend any time in the Treasure Valley at all and you will understand the rich Basque History in our area and how strongly it shapes the culture here. Even mutter the name Dan Ansotegui and everyone around you will say-- "Dan? I know Dan!"

More popular than any athlete, politician, or public figure in the City of Boise, Dan Ansotegui really is THE man when it comes to authentic, delicious, and locally crafted Basque cuisine. Hundreds if not thousands of young adults can probably say that he was one of their favorite teachers growing up in the local catholic school system and even more can say they left one of his restaurants or catered events in AWE at the flavors and totally wanting more.

Few local businesses are as worthy as Ansots to have been featured on a national stage like Dan Ansotegui's 'Ansots' was over the weekend and households around the country are wishing they had, in their downtown, what we have here in Boise.

Jeff Glor of CBS News reported from Boise over the weekend, and the national outlet wrote the following of the feature:

Dan Ansotegui is a James Beard nominee who's owned multiple restaurants in Boise, Idaho. His latest, Ansots (short for Ansotegui) features incredible chorizo, inspired by the Basque region of Spain. His latest was supposed to start as a catering operation during COVID, but it's become a sit-down dining destination, an authentic taste of the old country in the American West.
