There's no arguing, we hope, that our nation is quite literally built on immigrants and since its founding has been considered a 'melting pot'--but it seems that a new wave of Nationalism has brought about a rhetoric and vibe that is anti-immigrant and leaves in the dust the founding idea that nearly all of us are in some way, tied to immigrants.

Immigration in Idaho, because of our rural nature, is a particularly hot topic.  With so many agricultural jobs in Idaho, it's just a fact that immigrant workers are getting these jobs done. Jobs that most would agree, just won't get filled or completed by others.

It seems that BOTH major political parties agree that some sort of immigration reform is needed--both just have different ideas of how to get there. Can we work together? In a time when the world needs more harmony--perhaps American can dig deep and find a way to prove that it is possible.

At the end of the day, we hope that folks can just be a little kinder to 'the stranger'--the ones that aren't like themselves.
