We Did The Math: This Is Exactly How Fast Idaho Is Growing
"Idaho is full! Go somewhere else!"
If you haven't read that exact comment word-for-word, you've probably run into a similar sentiment from many Idahoans.
Idaho is growing, it's growing quickly, and many folks here aren't ok with the rapid expansion.
But just how quickly is Idaho growing these days?
We did the math, and Idaho's growth is a very real thing.
According to recent numbers, your feeling of "Gosh, there weren't this many people here a few years ago, were there?" actually pretty close to being spot-on.
From 2020 to 2023 (numbers for 2024 obviously can't be tabulated yet), Idaho saw a population increase from 1,849,000 citizens to just shy of two million residents that call Idaho home full-time.
Depending on who you ask, many will point their finger toward California as being the reason for the recent influx of population in Idaho, especially in and around the Boise area.
We actually went ahead and prompted AI to draw us what Californians moving to Idaho would look like, and the results are definitely...something.

If you're reading this as a new resident of Idaho who recently relocated from the Sunshine State, welcome! We're glad to have you.
That being said, we'd be remiss if we didn't warn you about a few places you're going to want to avoid in Idaho. Locals know better, but as a transplant, you may not yet be up on these locations that you're going to want to avoid at all costs.
Don't say we didn't want you. Because we literally just did.
