Extreme Heat To Engulf Southern Idaho This Week

Southern Idaho temperatures climbed into the eighties during the Fourth of July weekend and caused many to fire up fans and air conditioning units to keep their pets cool during the country's celebration of 250 years of Independence. Magic Valley residents can expect even hotter days this week as Twin Falls will be flirting with triple-digit temperatures late in the week.

Dry conditions and extreme heat will likely result in red flag warnings this week as those of us in southern Idaho will be engulfed by a heatwave that will start up Wednesday and last through Sunday. Heading to area rivers, lakes, or even city pools would be a wise choice this weekend.

Triple-Digit Temperatures Are Possible By Friday Throughout Southern Idaho

For those who are working on labor-intensive home improvement projects like building or repairing fences or paving driveways, you might want to consider putting plans on hold through Sunday to avoid heat stroke, which can be fatal.

The current weather forecast for the Magic Valley is predicting extreme heat to arrive Wednesday (July 8) as temperatures will reach the mid-nineties, according to The Weather Channel.

By Friday, it's predicted that a three-day period of highs reaching 100 degrees is possible. If possible, try to avoid traveling by vehicle with pets over this period to avoid putting their lives at risk. Make sure to never leave pets or small children in vehicles even while running quick errands.
