Bryan Taylor, Canyon County Prosecutor, announced that Shawn B. White, age 39, of Nampa, was sentenced for the felony crimes of Domestic Battery and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Judge Ford sentenced White to 4 years fixed, followed 4 years indeterminate, on the domestic battery charge, and 3 years fixed, followed 4 years indeterminate, on the possession charge.  The charges will run concurrently for a total unified sentence of 8 years in prison.  Judge Ford also ordered White to have no contact with the victim or his minor son for the duration of the sentence.  White was also ordered to pay $1,000 in fines and court costs.

White was arrested in September 2016 after an investigation by the Nampa Police Department revealed he had physically battered and threatened to kill his then girlfriend on numerous occasions.  The victim told police that White had held her at knifepoint and threatened to kill her multiple times.  The victim also told police that White would use his closed fist to strike her on the back of the head so it wouldn’t leave a bruise or mark.  She also told police that White made comments about their shared child, stating, “If I can’t have [him], then no one will…I will kill you both and then myself.”

Prior to being detained by police, White admitted to smoking methamphetamine and said he’d been doing so over the past couple of weeks.  He was also found in possession of two glass methamphetamine pipes and two bags of marijuana prior to his arrest.  White had a prior conviction for felony Domestic Battery in 2012.

“Domestic violence is an issue we take very seriously here in Canyon County and there is no place in our society for people who continue to batter and abuse women,” said Prosecutor Bryan Taylor.  “There is no doubt the community is safer with Mr. White behind bars.”
