House of Cards

Only a few short years ago, Netflix had in mind to double its roster of original programming by 2016. That goal has more or less been achieved, with something new debuting practically every Friday, so what’s next? Why, launching even more originals, to the point they make up 50% of the streaming service’s offerings, per Netflix brass.

Streaming markets are still evolving, between features available, tiered subscriptions, pricing and more, and Netflix, granddaddy of them all, will soon up their prices without a majority of customers realizing. Say goodbye to those grandfathered into the Standard Netflix subscription, as you’ll be forking over an additional $2.00 each month without realizing.

Once upon a time, Netflix’s House of Cards had only a two-season order guaranteed, and here we are a second showrunner to take us into a fifth (!) season. Following the exit of longtime creative voice Beau Willimon (after Season 4, don’t worry), House Cards has promoted from its own cabinet to lead the Kevin Spacey-Robin Wright political drama past 2016.

House of Cards isn’t the type of series to keep every last bit of detail under wraps until its premiere, but Season 4 footage has been hard to come by, promotion instead focused on ominous campaign ads of the Underwood trail. At long last, however, we finally have our first real footage in a new teaser, and none less ominous.

The 2015 Emmy Awards have reached their biggest award of the night, and only one can win the statue. Game of Thrones has officially taken home the statue for Outstanding Drama Series, and very surprisingly so.

Netflix's House of Cards seems tailor-made for the intricacy of American politics, but did you know the series originated in the U.K., or as a book before that?
