A 26-year-old man has been arrested for starting a wildfire in Utah and according to WMTW, he told authorities that he had been attempting to kill a spider with a lighter when he started the fire. he Utah County Sheriff's Office says.

Locals woke up in the middle of the night to a truly terrifying sight.

Did you know 9 out of 10 wildfires are reportedly caused by humans? That's both a huge statistic and hugely disappointing. Were we not listening to Smokey? When 90% of wildfires are caused by us, it really is on you to learn to prevent them because now we're seeing that many of them are, in fact, preventable. It's time Idahoans stepped up and took some responsibility.

Coming in at #24 in their 'State of the Air" research is Boise City, Mountain Home, and the Ontario areas for the "Short-Term Particle Pollution" category. Our big issue here in the northwest and certainly in the Boise area is when we end up with wildfire smoke. Something that we have had a ton of in the last few of years.

Smoky haze may be a thing in Idaho for another six weeks, and that's if zero new wildfires emerge. The fires that are eating up acres of Idaho land now may not be fully contained until mid-September.
