Melba Student Dies In Weekend Crash

The town of Melba is suffering the loss of a 14 year old student and football player, who was struck and killed by a car in Utah Thanksgiving weekend. Melba Principal Todd Shumway confirmed 14-year-old Nick Martinez died Saturday while he was there visiting friends. Martinezwas a freshman and an active member of the Melba Mustangs football team. Coach Jordon Coffin told  KTVB Sunday night that “Martinez has been amazing part of the football program. He went on to describe the teen as a great player, student and an even better kid.” Shumway said the school is working on setting up a crisis center for students grieving the loss on Monday.
