The Broadway Bridge Is Coming Down
The Broadway Bridge has played a key role in linking the City of Boise to the former South Boise Township since its original completion in 1892.
The original bridge was replaced in 1956, but now has reached the end of the road. Last year the Broadway Avenue Bridge was deemed the most structurally deficient bridge in the Treasure Valley. The original construction was expected to start in the Winter of 2014.
On Monday the road was closed and demolition of the 60 year old structure began. So, what is going to take its place? ITD has released images showing a wider structure with sidewalks that can handle the walk for Boise State fans making their way to the Stadium.
Did you know that plans are in the works by a private group to put 4 Bronco figures on the corners?
Sorry Vandal fans!
Broadway will be closed this winter, spring and summer, with a reopening planned for the fall before the start of the football season for the bridge that is in the shadow of Albertson’s Bronco Stadium.
