Despite intense lobbying by state fire chiefs, the House State Affairs Committee voted 6-9 to censor the printing of legislation that would help prevent fires caused by the sale of illegal fireworks in Idaho.
Boise Fire Chief Dennis Doan has expressed his support of a bill that would close the fireworks loophole in Idaho. The bill is currently being debated in the state legislature.
The suspect in the Table Rock Fire has plead not guilty and legal proceedings are underway, but that doesn't change the charred appearance of the iconic Boise landmark.

As the Treasure Valley continues to look for the culprits who started the Table Rock Fire by playing with the fireworks, a new debate has begun over the state law governing the sale of fireworks in the Gem State. Yes, you can buy fireworks in Idaho. However, it's illegal to use them in Idaho. (I wish someone would inform the folks in my neighborhood that they're lawbreakers.)
