There's a lot going on around our country, and a lot of focus has been put on the immigration raids taking place around the US.

For most people, it's easy to decide which side of the issue they're on. On one hand, some people love the idea of ICE detaining illegal immigrants to be deported, while others are strongly opposed to how it's being handled.

Idaho State Police Announces Stance On Immigration Raids

In a post shared to Facebook, Idaho State Police shared that they sat down with the Executive Director of the Idaho Hispanic Foundation, Mari Ramos, to talk about ISP's "recent agreement with ICE."

"We know concerns are circulating - and we want to be absolutely clear," Idaho State Police said in their post, "ISP is not conducting immigration raids. Our role is strictly limited to transporting individuals who are in the U.S. illegally and have been convicted of a crime."

ISP is making it clear that they back and support ICE's efforts to rid the community of illegal immigrants who might pose a danger to the Treasure Valley. However, they're also making it clear they're not the ones conducting the immigration raids.

"After they have served their time, they will be taken to a federal detention center," ISP says, "This ensures they are not released back into our communities, where they have the potential to reoffend."

Considering today's climate, it's refreshing to see peaceful dialogue taking place about issues that get people fired up on both sides. It's another reason to be grateful for the heroes we have keeping us safe here in Idaho.
