Christian Bale is a chameleon who can transform into pretty much anyone or anything. Ask him to play a wooden table, and he’ll find a way to change his body so dramatically you will believe he’s a literal table. For his next trick, the English actor will turn himself into former Vice President Dick Cheney.

Thanks to some early set photos, we’ve already gotten a look at Bale’s Cheney in Adam McKay’s upcoming biopic Vice. (And if you haven’t seen those, oh my, you really need to, but please take a seat first so you don’t fall over.) Now the first official photo and footage of our beloved Dark Knight as the former veep has arrived. Here’s the first teaser from McKay himself, which shows a peek at Bale’s aged Cheney, Amy Adams’ Lynne Cheney, and yes, that's Sam Rockwell as George W. Bush.

Vice will follow Cheney at two distinct points in his career. While the teaser, like those early set photos, shows off an aged Bale with white hair, he’ll also be playing a younger version of the former VP. Here’s the new photo (h/t Vanity Fair):

For Vice, Bale gained 40 pounds – pretty much nothing compared to the bajillion other times he’s lost and gained weight for roles – and had to shave his head every day and bleach his eyebrows. Never say the man isn’t committed. The film also stars Steve Carell as Donald Rumsfeld, Bill Pullman as Nelson Rockefeller, and Tyler Perry is playing Colin Powell. Here’s the official synopsis:

Academy Award-winner Adam McKay’s latest film, formerly referred to as UNTITLED DICK CHENEY PROJECT, is now titled VICE, Annapurna Pictures announced today.  VICE explores the epic story about how a bureaucratic Washington insider quietly became the most powerful man in the world as Vice-President to George W. Bush, reshaping the country and the globe in ways that we still feel today.  The film’s ensemble cast includes  Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Steve Carrell, Sam Rockwell, Jesse Plemons, Alison Pill, Lily Rabe, Tyler Perry, Justin Kirk, Lisagay Hamilton, Shea Whigham and Eddie Marsan.

See Bale’s new Cheney bod when Vice hits theaters this Christmas, and stay tuned for first official trailer once it arrives tomorrow.
