That's right - if you live in southwest Boise, taking a shower might be a bit of a headache over the next six months. It's not just showering either; getting access to water to cook, washing your hands, and even using the toilet... it's all up in the air until December at the latest.

A main water line needs repair along a major Boise road

If you live along Five Mile Road in Boise, you could be in for a bit of a headache. Some of us live in that area and received this message from Veolia:

Of course, most of us immediately see "disruption in your water service or discolored water" and immediately think about how lame this is going to be, the real stinger here is that it will be "going on until December of 2023."

Look, we get it - if the water main line has to be fixed, it has to be fixed. There's not much we can do because if it doesn't get repaired now, who knows what kind of mess we'd be in later. But, it's okay to be annoyed - we're all human, right? Shoot, look at how much construction is going on around the Treasure Valley as it is.

Salute to the workers working extra hard to get it done right

Our thing is this: while yes, this has the potential to disrupt random everyday activities like taking a shower or flushing a toilet, the likelihood that it will become a regular occurrence seems small. At the end of the day, the people tasked with doing the repair work are doing what they can to work as efficiently as possible - they're also people too.

So, go ahead. Be upset and vent to a relative or friend about how annoyed you are by the situation... be human. But, at the end of the day, we salute those who put the work in every day to give us things we forget we take for granted...

...you know, like taking a shower.
