
Boise’s Micron Debuts New Chips To Power AI
Did that handy dandy AI assistant on your phone help you find this article? Oh, you mean you don't have an AI assistant in your phone handling all your tasks for you? Well, you're about to.
What's the deal?
Memory chip goliath Micron, located right here in Boise, announced they're launching new memory chips to help keep with the high demand of AI in pretty much any device you can think of. Computers, phones, cars, hell your fidget spinner from 2019 probably has AI in it by now.
Their new chips will be 1-gamme DDR5 memory chips, which is blazingly fast. Fast enough to shove AI into even more of your devices.
Why do we need new chips?
AI is a pretty power-hungry operation, and the new chips would help speed things up, as well as increase battery life in your devices. Micron claims their new chips boost read speed up to 60% on some technology.
When will AI be in my phone?
It's already there. Micron has been working closely with Samsung on its Galaxy S25 phones, all filled to the brim with AI tools to help you with your tasks.
