What Tickets Could Result In An Idaho License Suspension?
Do you want to have your license suspended? Because this is how you get your license suspended.
This isn't a guide on how to get your license taken away in Idaho, quite the contrary, actually. We want to make sure you can remain on the road, stay safe, and are able to get around to where you need to go. Let us help.
What do I need to know?
In Idaho, like most states, you having your driver's license revoked is actually based on a points system, not how many tickets you're received. Obviously, some infractions are worth more points than others.
I have a few tickets. Will my Idaho license get taken away?
Yes, possibly. It depends on exactly how many points your tickets total up to. Here's a short explainer of how suspended licenses work in Idaho:
- 12-17 points (in any 12 months): 30-day suspension
- 18-23 points (in any 24 months): 90-day suspension
- 24 or more (in any 36 months): 6-month suspension
It's the opinion of this writer that you'd have to have a lot of infractions under your belt to sustain a point total over 20. So, don't do that.
Anything else I should know?
Yes! Some offenses, such as driving under the influence of alcohol or using a vehicle to commit a felony, could result in an immediate suspension of your license, regardless of what your previous "point" total was.
