‘Preacher’s Upcoming Fourth Season Will Be Its Last
As announced on Twitter moments ago by Seth Rogen, who co-developed the series for television and has also served as a director and writer on the show, Preacher will conclude with its upcoming season, its fourth on AMC. Watch the ominous first teaser, which includes atomic bomb explosions and promises of an apocalyptic finale, right now:
AMC announced the first season of the series last November — months after the Season 3 finale — when it was also revealed (by TVLine) that this upcoming batch of episodes will be filmed in Australia. The show stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, Ruth Negga as Tulip, and Joseph Gilgun as Cassidy. All American Rejects frontman Tyson Ritter will become a full-time series regular on this season as Humperdoo.
Based on the cult Vertigo comic by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, the show has been a critical hit from the very beginning of its run back in 2016, but it’s never quite risen to the level of AMC’s other comic-book shows, like The Walking Dead, which draws many multiples of viewers on the same network year after year. Preacher’s final season premieres on August 4.
