Some of us have heard the saying before that "driving is a privilege," and we couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, some people have never heard that phrase, and one man in particular is taking it a step further.

Police Arrest Boise Man For Speeding In A 50 MPH Zone

According to a press release from Garden City Police, the initial incident took place on Sunday, May 4th, around 7:10 PM.

"A Garden City Police Officer observed a white BMW traveling westbound on Chinden Blvd near Maple Grove Rd at a high rate of speed," Garden City Police shared.

"The officer used a RADAR to confirm the vehicle was traveling 122 miles per hour in a posted 50 mile per hour zone."

Once police stopped Mendrez, they discovered he was driving with a suspended license, expired insurance, and an expired vehicle registration. He was then arrested for reckless driving, cited for Expired Registration, Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance, and Driving Without Privileges, according to Garden City Police.

He was then arrested and booked into Ada County Jail.

The Suspect Trolls Garden City Police On Facebook

Police shared that a vehicle traveling at speeds around 120 MPH can travel 178 feet per second, or the equivalent of the length of a football field in 2 seconds.

Instead of thinking about how he could have killed or seriously injured someone or himself, the suspect, Mendez, decided to troll Garden City Police on their Facebook post announcing his arrest.

"Great job guys," he wrote.

Upon looking at his public profile, we can confirm that it is the suspect who wrote that comment. He even shared it on his page and made light of the situation with others who commented on it. While some people might learn from a lesson or two from a bad decision, this person seemed to get a kick out of seeing his name in a report about his arrest.

We can't imagine how frustrating this is not only for the police but for the community as well. We've seen recent similar incidents in our community that haven't turned out so well for drivers or innocent bystanders.

It's one thing for someone to make a dumb decision and decide to put lives in danger by speeding, but publicly mocking the police for arresting you for it? That's a new level of low.

It doesn't appear he's remorseful, so if you see a white BMW in the area, please be careful. His actions following his arrest show he doesn't care about yours or your loved ones' safety... and it shows.
