Young Elk Is Gunned Down, Idaho Officials Looking For Suspect
We're going to start by saying this: if you mess with Idaho, you're going to get caught. Not only is this because of Idaho's amazing law enforcement and officials, but also because of those living in Idaho who rally to bring rule breakers to justice.
Idaho Officials Are Looking For A Suspect Who Gunned Down An Elk
Unfortunately, this isn't the first illegal shooting of an animal we've reported on. Back in December, we shared a story about a deer that was illegally gunned down in an Idaho school parking lot.
Whether you want to call it "gunned down" or "hunting illegally", someone shot a young elk out of season and if you've live in Idaho for some time or are experienced with hunting - you know you can't do that.
"The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking information regarding the illegal shooting of a young bull elk that occurred in southern Idaho between March 2-4, 2025," Idaho Fish & Game said in a statement.
Officials say the shooting took place "near Clover Creek Road, north of Bliss" and Idaho Fish & Game is reminding everyone of the consequences.
According to officials, "the minimum fine for hunting elk during the closed season is $300, plus a civil penalty of $750."
Do You Have Any Leads Or Information?
If you've seen anything or have any information, you can contact Idaho Fish & Game at 208-579-8091 or the "Citizens Against Poaching" hotline at 1-800-632-5999.
Officials say you can remain anonymous and you might even get a reward if your tip leads to an arrest!
