Treasure Valley drivers along Chinden at Five Mile are encouraged to find an alternate route this afternoon after Boise police are reporting the area will be closed down for several hours.

What Happened To Cause The Closure?

According to Boise police

Judging from the announcement, it sounds like the crash resulted in serious injury or even death.

Police will no doubt inform us all what happened soon, but this is an unfortunate reminder of the danger of the "100 Deadliest Days" in Idaho. The "100 Deadliest Days" began on Memorial Day weekend and concludes at the end of Labor Day.

“Every year in Idaho, too many lives are lost in crashes that are preventable,” Boise Police Corporal Kyle Wills said in a press release from the City of Boise.

“As we head into summer, we want drivers to know that it’s up to all of us to drive sober and drive responsibly.”

According to the City of Boise, police have made nearly 13 thousand traffic stops and responded to over 2,600 crashes.

Remember to drive safely, leave early, and remind inexperienced drivers to be extra cautious on the road.
