If we're being honest, we didn't have this on our 2025 bingo card: McDonald's hiring security guards to check IDs at the front door.

No, seriously - this is a thing and many are wondering which other McDonald's locations are going to implement the same policy.

Why Is McDonald's Carding Minors?

When we first came across this news, we assumed it was a European McDonald's checking IDs because some locations overseas actually serve beer.

However, we were surprised to learn that this is happening in New York City according to several reports. Apparently, the New York City McDonald's has been at the mercy of unruly teens causing issues ranging from fighting to throwing ice at customers and even smoking weed inside of the restaurant.

Now, we can't confirm what's going on inside of the McDonald's because what we're hearing is all based on eyewitness accounts and it's become a "he said, she said" situation.

That being said - is this the direction that our restaurants are going? Better yet, here's an even crazier question:

Is McDonald's onto something?

Look - many of us grew up not having to worry about being somewhere without our parents. Whether it was playing until the street lights came on or walking down to the corner store to fetch a drink and chips, most of us agree that kids should be able to roam freely without worry.

But, this is 2025. This is the era of social media pranks and challenges... "doing it for views" as they say.
