2025 is the year you finally accomplish some of those goals that you set for yourself. Last year, you said you'd hit the gym three days a week, which started off great, then it became two days a week, and by Valentine's Day, you started paying for a gym membership that you wouldn't use for the rest of the year.

This year, you should set a goal that you might actually accomplish. A goal that isn't gym-related. A goal that's just for you, like reading a book or two or three this year.

The idea of reading a book is romantic, not if you listen to it. That doesn't count. I mean sitting in a corner in a comfortable chair with your favorite drink and a blanket and letting yourself become a part of another world. To find that other world, you'll need the right book. To find the right book, you'll need to go to the right store. Sure, you can get your book in 48 hours on Amazon, but to truly experience everything that is reading a book, you need to find that hidden spot filled with adventure and romance.

In addition to stores that sell new books, there are those with books that have already taken someone through a journey. Once that journey ends, the reader chooses to allow someone else to experience it, too, and that makes that book even more special. Opening that book and taking in the smell of the old ink and the paper that had absorbed the fragrance of the people who had opened it before you and the aroma of the places they visited with it creates a shared experience unlike any other. When you pass the book to someone else or sell it back to the bookstore, you and the person who reads it next will forever be secretly linked.

Fortunately, the Treasure Valley has some really great holes in the wall, filled with used books that are just waiting to take someone on the ride of their life, and those stores are an experience in themselves.
