Ahhhh, Boise, Idaho. The capitol of the Gem State. A diamond in the rough. The best small city this side of the Mississippi.

Oh yeah, and there's also more murders here than in comparable Idaho cities. So, there's that.

Of the top ten safest cities in Idaho, Boise didn't even make the list.

According to New Home Source, the safest place for you to call home in the state of Idaho is Rexburg. Rexburg's almost 29,000 residents almost never experience violent crimes, and the most common crime there is larceny and burglary.

Middleton, Rathdrum, Preston, and Hailey, Idaho round out the top five on the list of safest cities in Idaho.

Why didn't Boise make the list? According to every crime statistic study we can get our hands on, it's mostly because there are more people in the Boise area than in most other parts of Idaho. Cities with higher populations tend to lean toward a higher crime rate.

Or, do you think it's something else? Why isn't Boise one of the safest cities in Idaho? Did this study miss something? Let us know.

Speaking of crime in the Treasure Valley, did you hear about this police chase that ended in tragedy? The suspect was chased by officers for a minute until they had to escalate. A stark reminder that crime doesn't pay, and you definitely shouldn't be running from police if you're caught committing a crime.

Stay safe out there, and make good choices. I know, I'm not your mom, but you're here so I just figured I'd remind you.
