There's no denying Idaho's greatness. You know it. I know it and yet it still surprises me when I see one of our small Idaho towns get compared favorable to other destinations across the globe. Recently an Idaho town made MSN's list of 50 Charming Towns to Visit if You Love Winter, landing a spot among places like Banff, Switzerland, Aspen, and Austria.

I love Ketchum, Idaho...It's a destination frequented by those of us in the Treasure Valley year round, but even more so in the winter because of the skiing at Sun Valley's Bald Mountain.

Located only 2 miles from the Sun Valley, Ketchum is the perfect winter destination for couples, families, or even the solo skier. It's home to world class skiing including a 3,000 foot vertical drop - the Warm Springs Run.

Ketchum also has delicious food and drinks (think Sawtooth Brewery) as well as great lodging options including Sun Valley Resort for those looking for a relaxing weekend away on or off the slopes.

So it's really amazing that this small town, has been chosen by msn.com as one the top winter locations in the entire world...and just think it's easy to take for granted, because it's right here in our back yard.

MSN had this to say about Ketchum:  "The laid-back, art-driven town of Ketchum offers superlative skiing. Away from the slopes, you can enjoy snowy pastimes like ice skating at the Sun Valley Resort. After embracing the crisp mountain air and snow-capped scenery, grab a pint at Sawtooth Brewery. Then, kick back at a boutique retreat like the Limelight Hotel or splurge for a room at Sun Valley Lodge, where you'll have access to a spa, a yoga studio and cozy accommodations."

If you've never been to Ketchum, take the time to make the 2 1/2 hour drive to check it out sometime. My personal favorite time to visit is late summer and early fall, but it's amazingly beautiful all year round....plus one of my favorite steakhouses The Pioneer Saloon is located there. Best Prime Rib I've EVER eaten was here.
