The fountain was my very first memory of Ann Morrison Park after moving to Boise, but could the fountain be disappearing from the park's landscape?

According to the Idaho Statesman, Boise Parks and Rec has begun looking into a major update to the city's biggest park. The park was originally built in 1959 in the name of Harry Morrison's first wife.  Morrison was one of the founders of the Morrison Knudsen Corp. They'll be working with GGLO, a Seattle based design firm, on the update.  The design firm is no stranger to Boise as they're also involved in the construction of The Afton, a condo complex near 8th, 9th, River and Fulton streets.

The City and Harry W. Morrison Foundation have discussed a major facelift for the park's iconic 20 year-old fountain.  Some feel that the fountain is actually a summertime hazard for kids that try swimming in its concrete pool.  The pool was never designed for people to get in it to cool off during hot Boise summers, so the foundation's president wants to find a way to make it safer and more useful for residents.  One suggestion is to turn it into something similar to the Splash Pads you see at Kleiner and Settler's Parks in Meridian.
