The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention continues to track the drug-resistant fungus Candida auris in several states including Arizona, Colorado and Utah. The cases in the states surrounding Utah are much higher.
See latest (2022) map here: CDC MAP
It was first detected in 2016 and seems to only be getting more resistant to medicated treatment.

Another problem, according to the Utah Department of Health and Human Services, is the fungus seems to be spreading a lot in hospitals. "C. auris can spread within a healthcare setting through environmental surfaces, person to person, or contaminated equipment."- Utah Department of Health and Human Services Website

Basically we need to wash our hands a lot better. Candida auris, a resilient type of yeast, exhibits multi-drug resistance and has the potential to induce severe illness in individuals with compromised health. Referred to as C. auris, this yeast strain does not yield to conventional antifungal therapies, presenting a challenge to containment once it infiltrates hospital or healthcare settings.

C. auris is responsible for infections in the bloodstream, open wounds, and ears. While healthy individuals may carry C. auris on their skin without falling ill, they can still serve as carriers, transmitting the fungus to others. Typically, C. auris poses minimal risk to the health of individuals with robust immune systems.

To battle most super bugs, you should boost your immune system so that you don't fall majorly ill in the first place. Avoid taking antibiotics if you can and get plenty of green veggies, fresh air, sunshine and exercise.

No! These Delicious, Dirty Foods Are Being Linked To Alzheimer's

attachment-Untitled design (44)

When we don't eat the fuel that our body needs we are weakening our defenses. Our immune system and organs that filter toxins and poisons cannot do their job if we regularly deprive them of the nutrients they need.

attachment-Untitled design (43)

So what are the most problematic foods for all kinds of health problems?
Refined White Sugar is the very worst. It should actually be classified as a drug. In one Sugar Addiction Study Report it states, "Available evidence in humans shows that sugar and sweetness can induce reward and craving that are comparable in magnitude to those induced by addictive drugs....At the neurobiological level, the neural substrates of sugar and sweet reward appear to be more robust than those of cocaine..."

For Alzheimer's in particular, red meat is at the top of the list.
Yahoo News reports "Unfortunately, a diet with lots of meat and processed foods is strongly linked to developing Alzheimer's Disease, according to a new study published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease. Scientists at Australia's Bond University found this "strong correlation" by studying the eating habits of 438 people."

Here are the top 5 foods linked to memory loss and Alzheimer's:1. White Sugar in all forms (Cake, candy, soda, etc.)
2. Processed meats and cheeses (sausage, bacon, pepperoni, ham etc. especially containing nitrates.)
3. Red meat
4. Pasta/White bread
5. Processed foods (Junk food) of all kinds (They are full of preservatives and chemicals that your body doesn't know what to with.)

So what do you do now that you know you are addicted to sugar and the chemicals in junk food?

Start cutting out the stuff you can live without. If you are only eating it cause it's there, you can stop. Then you can move on to the stuff you actually like and make it a treat when you get it. Think of having a delicious, big breakfast with bacon and sausage. Now, just cut your portions down or limit the amount of times you enjoy that meal.

At my house we started with eating one meal a day with no meat in it. We also made a goal to eat out only 2 times per week. This helped significantly with our food choices but it was a little stressful on our time.

attachment-Untitled design (45)

We stayed strong and now we eat things like steel cut oats and fruit in the morning with honey or maple syrup and veggie wraps for lunch and bean and lentil tostadas for dinner. We now only eat meat sparingly which for us, ends up being 2 or 3 times per week.

We also love making homemade pizza so we just look for pepperoni with no nitrates (which costs more) and enjoy it with at lease one veggie on the pizza. I actually LOVE to load my pizza with bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, fresh basil, artichoke hearts and mozzarella. soooo good.

If you have any tips and tricks let me know. aaronee@townsquaremedia.com  My kids still love the junk food but hopefully I am helping them see that they don't need it and they actually so like some really healthy foods as well. Here's to health!

Whether you are trying to sell your house or just keep it warm and welcoming, there are at least 3 things that you should never keep at the entrance of your home.

Many people find beauty and positivity in clean and well-maintained surroundings. Aesthetically pleasing environments can have a positive impact on mood and overall well-being. Cleaning and organizing can be seen as a metaphor for removing negativity and making space for positive energy. It represents a fresh start and a commitment to maintaining a healthy and balanced life.

Here are the 3 things you should never have at the entrance to you home:

#3 Anything broken or in disrepairTimes of India said that broken items stop the flow of positive energy to your home. Anything visibly broken is a sign of breaking relations and ties.

#2 Dead Plants- Usually plants are a great item to have a the entrance to your home. Plants are a sign of vitality and growth. But if you do not take care of them they can repel growth and encourage decay. Plus it just looks bad.

#1 A shoe box/bin- Wait what? I totally have one that collects muddy boots. hahaha I am doing it all wrong. In some countries it is rude to display your shoes because they are thought to bring the filth of the world into your home. So if you have a shoe rack or shoe bin near the entrance to your home, you are blocking all positive energy from entering. Keeping your entrance clean and clutter free allows others to come in with an open mind and relax inside.

So what do you do with your shoes??? Most organizing experts say to take them off at the back door or garage and hide them there. A clean and organized environment can enhance productivity. When you have a clear space to work or relax, you may find it easier to accomplish tasks and achieve your goals, leading to a sense of accomplishment and positive energy.
